La Travesía (2009)

La Travesía (2009). This piece was composed under the inspiration of creative process behind Theme and Variations on El Gavilán. It sought to mirror the creative process used in the earlier piece —using melodies with accompanying notes in the piccolo—but within an entirely original composition. The idea was to create a new piece from the ground up, without relying on preexisting folk or popular themes. La Travesía was included on the album Canta y Toca by the ensemble A Trío. The work serves as a tribute to the meaningful journeys the ensemble undertook together—experiences that deeply strengthened the bonds of friendship among the group’s members.
